Entangled in Wild Wine – Artur Gotz Sings the Songs of Marek Grechuta
The concert promotes Artur Gotz’s seventh album. It is not only a musical tribute to Marek Grechuta, an outstanding artist of the 20th-century Polish music scene. It is a modern, bold project that uniquely commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Master’s birth and the 20th anniversary of his death, giving his work an entirely new sound and meaning.
Rather than imitating a legend, Gotz offers his own original interpretation. The concert pulses with fresh arrangements. Traditional instrumentation is combined with electronics, beats and contemporary sounds, all with the aim of introducing Marek Grechuta’s work to new generations without losing the depth of its poetry and music.
During the concert, audiences will hear both timeless hits – “Nie dokazuj”, “Będziesz moją panią”, “Ocalić od zapomnienia”, “W dzikie wino zaplątani”, “Świat w obłokach”, “Korowód”, “Hop szklankę piwa” – as well as lesser-known songs such as “Władza”, “Śpij – bajki śnij” and “Stara historia (Ateny)”, one of the last songs recorded by the artist. Through these less frequently performed works, the singer further celebrates and honours the memory of the extraordinary artistic phenomenon that was Marek Grechuta.
The concert will also feature “Karuzela z madonnami” from the repertoire of Ewa Demarczyk, with music by Zygmunt Konieczny, with whom Artur Gotz has collaborated since his debut at Piwnica pod Baranami.
This song not only brings the album to an emotional close, but also serves as a symbolic expression of gratitude to the Black Angel.
It was thanks to Ewa Demarczyk that Marek Grechuta began singing. The same artist also inspired Artur Gotz, who completed his studies with a master’s thesis devoted to the artist he so greatly admired.
The concert is a reinterpretation of classic hits, but also a vivid and moving story about an artist who speaks anew to contemporary audiences through the voice of Artur Gotz. For Grechuta’s fans, it offers a new perspective. For everyone else, it is the perfect invitation into the world of one of the most important poets of Polish song.
This concert and album will bring generations together and take audiences on an unforgettable journey.
